Dr. Lu Lu is a chemist with broad experience in polymer science and analytical chemistry. Dr. Lu received her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry and Macromolecular Science in Department of Chemistry at Louisiana State University (LSU), where she had research experience in the fields of atomic force microscopy, surface chemistry, particle lithography for nanoscale surface patterning, and polypeptoids. She then joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at LSU for her postdoctoral research, where she had in-depth investigation of shape memory polymers and self-healing polymers. Based on the research Dr. Lu conducted during her postdoc, she and two other researchers with different research backgrounds co-founded a start-up to develop a smart polymeric sealant for pavement joints or cracks. The project was funded by NSF SBIR Phase I and Phase II grants and Dr. Lu served as the principal investigator for the funded project for three years. Dr. Lu gained extensive experience while working at the start-up including grant writing, project management, business management, and research & development experience of the smart sealant. During her free time, Dr. Lu enjoys traveling with families and friends.
Education: B.S. in Department of Polymer Science & Engineering from University of Science and Technology of China; Ph.D. in Chemistry from Louisiana State University.
