Umar Qureshi, Ph.D.

Dr. Umar Qureshi brings expertise in computational biology, biomechanics, fluid dynamics, medical image analysis, and software as a medical device. He has a track record of successfully leading scientific grant writing efforts to secure funding from public and private agencies, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the American Heart Association (AHA). During his postdoc at North Carolina State University, he secured an NSF – Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) grant to develop subject-specific models of the cardiovascular and pulmonary system for studying the mechanisms of pulmonary hypertension. As an R&D Engineer at a software development company, Dr. Qureshi contributed to projects supported by Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding. He has also served as a peer reviewer for several Biomedical Engineering journals. At EGC, Dr. Qureshi enjoys the interactions with highly motivated scientists and entrepreneurs focused on revolutionizing the standards of care with their innovative ideas. In spare time, Dr. Qureshi enjoys traveling, cooking, hiking, and spending time with his family and friends.
