Eva Garland Consulting was founded by Dr. Eva Garland, who excels in securing resources and leading scientific teams to develop innovative new technologies that span the biological and physical sciences.
As Vice President of Research & Development for an early stage biotechnology company, Dr. Garland was awarded over $8 million in grant funding, including twelve SBIR/STTR Awards as well as funding from Foundations and state and local sources. She has secured non-dilutive funding for technologies ranging from pharmaceuticals, wound care products, antiseptics, medical devices, agrochemicals, and industrial products.
Dr. Garland actively participates on NIH SBIR/STTR study sections, for which she evaluates hundreds of SBIR and STTR proposals each year. She has authored a book, “Winning SBIR/STTR Grants: A Ten Week Plan for Preparing Your NIH Phase I Application,” which has been recognized by Amazon.com as one of the top-selling books about the SBIR/STTR program.
Once clients receive grant funding, Dr. Garland helps them to establish a grant-compliant operational infrastructure that meets all government regulations while also ensuring the companies can focus their time and energy on developing their technologies. She provides expertise in efficiently implementing required recordkeeping and bookkeeping policies and assists clients in establishing policies to meet audit requirements.
Dr. Garland holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Caltech. Throughout her career, Dr. Garland has received numerous awards including a Certificate of Merit Award from the American Chemical Society Division of Environmental Chemistry. Dr. Garland also serves as a panelist on NIH SBIR/STTR scientific review groups.
