Scientific Consultant, Grant Writing Specialist

The Scientific Consultant, Grant Writing Specialist will provide strategic scientific consulting and grant writing support to assist EGC’s clients in their technology development. The successful candidate should have deep scientific expertise and be skilled in writing and submitting a broad range of research grants to support early-stage technology development.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Provide strategic guidance to assist scientists and entrepreneurs in understanding the non-dilutive funding landscape
  • Write competitive grant applications to be submitted to multiple federal agencies (DoD, NIH, NSF, etc)
  • Serve as a Project Manager and coordinate all aspects of the proposal preparation process, including research plan development, budget preparation, and submission
  • Coordinate with collaborators at universities, CROs, and other institutes
  • Collaborate with other Scientific Consultants and EGC team members to achieve our mission of Advancing Science

Job Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in a scientific field
  • Postdoctoral or other professional experience preferred

Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will provide accounting and grants management services to a portfolio of companies who have engaged EGC for accounting and grant compliance services. The successful candidate will supervise a team of Staff Accountants and will report to the Director of Accounting & Compliance.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Serve as Client Lead for Accounting engagements
  • Provide full-service accounting support for small and medium-sized businesses
  • Oversee Staff Accountants’ Bookkeeping entries into Quickbooks
  • Set up depreciation schedules, accrued revenue, journal entries, and other schedules
  • Ensure client timesheets are entered properly into the accounting system
  • Sign off on monthly financial reports for clients
  • Support Clients’ government reporting needs
  • Lead setup packages for new clients to assist them with establishing a corporate infrastructure and protocols that are in compliance with federal granting agency regulations
  • Prepare invoices and drawdown funds from funding agencies
  • Write, update and review Policies & Procedures Manuals for Clients
  • Support clients in audits
  • Lead indirect rate negotiations and incurred cost submissions
  • Provide gap analyses to identify areas in which clients are non-compliant with general accounting and government granting agency regulations
  • Provide expertise in both GAAP accounting and grant accounting standards
  • Contribute to EGC’s accounting and compliance team success
  • Supervise Staff Accountants
  • Contribute to the development of internal policies to ensure the highest level of work quality and client service

Job Requirements:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum 4 years experience in accounting
  • Experience with government grant accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Familiarity with accounting needs for small businesses (LLCs, S Corps, C Corps)
  • Proficiency with Quickbooks desktop and online
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive at a dynamic company: must be a quick learner and able to balance multiple tasks

Accounts Receivable Specialist

Reporting to the IT Director, the Accounts Receivable Specialist will be responsible for creating and sending invoices, receiving payments, and communicating with clients regarding billing issues. The successful candidate will have 5+ years’ experience in Accounts Receivable for professional services organizations, including experience with hourly, flat fee, and success-based billing. The candidate should be familiar with timekeeping and invoicing software systems, and should have a strong accounting background to facilitate monthly reconciliations. The candidate will also be responsible for collections and facilitating payment plans.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Creates invoices per terms of Engagement Letters.
  • Transfers information from timekeeping system onto invoices and verifies accuracy.
  • Posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, EFT, and credit card transactions.
  • Posts revenues by verifying and entering transactions into AR System.
  • Updates receivables by totaling unpaid invoices.
  • Maintains records by storing invoices, debits, and credits into a tracking system.
  • Coordinates monthly invoice approvals from Department Heads.
  • Summarizes receivables by maintaining invoice accounts; verifying totals; preparing and presenting reports.
  • Protects the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Remains abreast of latest updates to invoicing system; proactively identifies ways to streamline the invoicing process.
  • Contacts clients who have failed to pay their bills.
  • Solicit payment of bills through negotiation and professional communication, remaining tactful, sympathetic, and respectful at all times.
  • Coordinates with external collection agency, as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • 5 years’ experience with Accounts Receivable
  • Familiarity with invoicing systems for professional services firms, such as NetSuite and Concur
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar area
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines for sending invoices

Office Administrator

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Office Administrator will organize and coordinate office administration and procedures, in order to ensure organizational effectiveness, efficiency and safety. The Office Administrator is responsible for developing intra-office communication protocols, streamlining administrative procedures, and inventory control. The successful candidate will be an energetic professional who enjoys wearing multiple hats, is experienced in handling a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks, and is able to work independently with little or no supervision. The position requires a high level of organization, flexibility, and capability to support the administrative challenges of a diverse organization.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Oversee and support all administrative duties in the office and ensure that office is operating smoothly.
  • Ensure office is maintained at highest level of cleanliness, organization, and professionalism.
  • Manage office supplies inventory and place orders, as necessary.
  • Perform receptionist duties: greet visitors, and answer and inbound phone calls.
  • Receive and sort incoming mail and deliveries and manage outgoing mail.
  • Develop office policies and procedures, and ensure they are implemented appropriately.
  • Assist with office layout planning and office moves, and with managing and maintaining IT infrastructure.
  • Manage office budget.
  • Identify opportunities for process and office management improvements, and design and implement new systems.
  • Provide other administrative support as necessary, including scheduling group meetings, maintaining calendars, doing research, and creating reports.
  • Support senior leadership in administrative functions such as bill pay, scanning, and general secretarial support.
