Megan Mefford, Ph.D.

Dr. Megan Mefford is a microbiologist and educator with expertise in viral and bacterial pathogenesis, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and pharmacology. Dr. Mefford’s scientific achievements include characterization of tissue-specific genetic variants of viruses, planning and implementation of pre-clinical studies, and development of bioinformatics techniques to identify molecular targets. Dr. Mefford has over 7 years of experience with copy-editing papers, proposals, grants, book chapters, and other scientific writing. Additionally, she teaches undergraduate and graduate writing courses with a focus on conciseness, clarity, and critical thinking. In her free time, Dr. Mefford enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, music, and travel.

Education: B.S. in Microbiology with a minor in Zoology from Ohio State University; MSPH in Tropical Medicine from Tulane University; Ph.D. in Virology from Harvard University
