SBIR/STTR Reauthorized - A Huge Win for the Innovation Community!

We are excited to share that the Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) programs are officially reauthorized! This moment reflects the tireless work of innovators, entrepreneurs, advocates, and organizations nationwide who rallied together to champion American small business research and development.

The SBIR/STTR programs are critical federal programs that fund early-stage R&D at small businesses and startups. The prolonged lapse in reauthorization left these programs in limbo, preventing federal agencies from issuing new awards and solicitations and putting countless innovative businesses at risk.

Because of your collective advocacy and the unified voice of the innovation community, Congress has acted to reauthorize SBIR/STTR through September 30, 2031, via the Small Business Innovation and Economic Security Act, signed into law on April 13, 2026. Your efforts have helped secure the future of these vital programs, ensuring that American innovation can continue to thrive.
