Born in Palo Alto, California, Dr. Eva Garland earned her B.A. in Chemistry from Columbia University and her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Caltech. She completed her postdoctoral studies in atmospheric science at UNC Chapel Hill and subsequently joined the Chemistry Faculty at NC State University.
From 2009 to 2013, Dr. Garland led the Research & Development team at Agile Sciences, a startup company, where she secured over $15 million in non-dilutive funding. During this period, she developed a profound appreciation for the potential of grant funding to support significant scientific advancements. She further recognized the need for specialized support to help scientists navigate the intricate landscape of government and private non-dilutive funding.
Dr. Garland founded EGC to bridge the gap between great scientific discoveries and the funding required to realize their societal potential. She is incredibly proud of the exceptional Ph.D. scientists and grant accounting experts who comprise EGC’s professional team, and who have supported 3,000+ clients in developing and implementing strategies to secure non-dilutive funding, as well as managing the accounting and compliance aspects of their awards.
Dr. Garland actively participates on Federal and State grant review panels, and has served as a reviewer for the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s report on the DOE SBIR/STTR program. She is the lead author for EGC’s best-selling books on the SBIR/STTR program.
Throughout her career, Dr. Garland has received numerous awards including recognition as CEO of the fastest-growing female led company in North Carolina (Inc. 5000, 2018), a Triangle Business Journal Women in Business Award, and a Certificate of Merit Award from the American Chemical Society Division of Environmental Chemistry.
