$229M DOE Funding Fuels Development and Manufacturing of Silicon Battery Solutions

$229M

Non-dilutive funding awarded

Through partnering with EGC, Group14 received a $100 Million contract for the Battery Materials Processing and Battery Manufacturing award with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC), part of the first Phase of investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). The $100 million award has supported construction of Group14’s Battery Active Materials factory (BAM-2) in Moses Lake, WA, which is expected to be the site of the world’s largest factory for advanced silicon battery technology.

That initial investment catalyzed further federal support. In 2025, Group14 was awarded an additional $122 million from DOE to build a U.S.-based silane manufacturing plant with 7,200 metric tons of annual capacity to feed production of advanced silicon-based anode materials.

In September 2025, the company closed a landmark $463 million Series D round, bringing total equity raised to over $1 billion.  This funding is accelerating commercialization of its breakthrough silicon battery material, SCC55® and continuing to position the company as the global leader in silicon battery manufacturing.

“As the company continues to scale, the $100 million award is instrumental in accelerating Group14’s domestic manufacturing capacity to deliver advanced silicon battery materials to secure the U.S. battery supply chain.”
