Ethan Cissell, Ph.D.

Dr. Ethan Cissell has broad environmental science, microbiology, and computational/statistical expertise. This includes expertise in multi-’omics, bioinformatics, global change ecology/sustainability technology, bacteriophages, and extensive experience with designing and conducting underwater experiments on SCUBA. Before joining EGC, Dr. Cissell received numerous state, federal, and international grants and awards in support of his research on microbial species interactions. Among these grants included an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship award, and he is a grant-elected member of the Explorers Club. Dr. Cissell’s research in microbial ecology also earned him the Best Dissertation Award from Florida State University. He has routinely served as a manuscript reviewer for multiple research journals and has also served on the Grants Committee of the Phycological Society of America for 3 years. As a Scientific Consultant at EGC, Dr. Cissell is passionate about leveraging his extensive grant writing and reviewing experience alongside his diverse scientific expertise to help entrepreneurs and scientists advance their technologies. In his spare time, Dr. Cissell enjoys SCUBA diving, building aquaria, mountain biking, and camping.
